Mount Mercy University has announced that Gary Hirshberg, President and CEO of Stonyfield Farm and Chairman of Climate Counts, will serve as the University's Commencement speaker during the graduation ceremony on Sunday, May 22 at 1:00 p.m. at the U.S. Cellular Center.

Mount Mercy’s two highest awards for graduates were presented during the 2010 Commencement ceremony, held on Sunday, May 23: The Mary Catherine McAuley Award and the Mary Frances Warde Award. The McAuley Award is the highest honor given to a student who has attended Mount Mercy for four years. The Warde Award is the highest honor given to a student who transferred to Mount Mercy. The President’s Award, given to a graduating senior who has demonstrated outstanding perseverance and diligence in pursuing his or her goals, was given during the Honor’s Convocation on Saturday, May 22.

For the first time in its more than 80-year history, Master’s degrees will be conferred upon graduates at Mount Mercy’s Commencement, marking a milestone in the institution’s history.

Mount Mercy has announced today that Terry Waite, humanitarian, hostage negotiator, and author of Taken on Trust, will serve as the institution’s Commencement speaker during the graduation ceremony May 23 at 1:00 p.m. at the U.S. Cellular Center. The title of Waite’s address to graduates is, “The Power of the Human Spirit: Turning Misfortune into Positive Action.”
